My Story

Energised, restored and grounded. These three words sum up how I feel today, thanks to a regular yoga and qigong practice. It was not always like this.

I am Candice, a yoga and qigong teacher based in Tonbridge, Kent. I am also a mum, an outdoor enthusiast, and someone who believes that adventure and rest are equally important. I have trekked in Patagonia, walked 100km along the Thames, and can usually be found outside whenever the Kent countryside allows.

Nature is not just a backdrop to my life. It is woven through my teaching, especially in the seasonal qigong practice where the natural world is our guide. I teach because I know first hand what it feels like to need these practices, and what they can do when you finally find them.

I spent over a decade in tax technology recruitment in London. High earnings, constant urgency, fierce competition. I knew I needed to slow down but I kept going. My body eventually made the decision for me. I developed severe dry eye disease and an autoimmune skin condition. At one point I could not work on any screen. Surgery was being discussed for both conditions. That was my wake-up call.

I transitioned to yoga teaching and both conditions have since resolved without medication. I have learned, the hard way, to listen to my body.

That experience shapes everything about how I teach. This is not a fitness class or a one-size-fits-all yoga class. It is a way back to yourself, rooted in a genuine understanding of what chronic stress does to the body, because I have lived it.

Now I share these practices with others, especially busy people and professionals who are exhausted and running on empty. My teaching blends yoga, qigong, Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra in ways that are accessible for all levels, including complete beginners.

What truly changed for me was not just the practices. It was learning to listen. Instead of pushing through exhaustion, I began responding to it. That shift is now at the heart of everything I teach.

"I don't teach yoga. I teach people to listen to themselves."

What That Looks Like in Practice

Movement and rest that meets you exactly where you are.

I teach weekly classes in Tonbridge and Hildenborough, online via Zoom, and at retreats and wellness festivals across the UK.

My students range from complete beginners who've never set foot on a mat, to busy professionals navigating burnout, to people simply looking for something nourishing to come back to each week.

Whatever brings someone through the door or via Zoom, my approach is always the same. Every class is inclusive, welcoming and completely adaptable. Options are always given. The practice comes to meet you, not the other way around. I've had students on chairs alongside students on mats, beginners next to more experienced practitioners, and everyone finds their place. That's not an accident, it's a deliberate choice, because I believe movement and rest should be available to everyone.

I'm also a proud supporter of West Kent Mind, and part of the fabric of the Tonbridge community I love teaching in.

My Training

I trained in the Daoist Flow programme at Triyoga London, one of the UK's most respected yoga schools, under Jean Hall and Mimi Kuo-Deemer. Following my training I joined the teaching faculty, where I continue to support new trainees in their learning and development.

I'm a trained Yoga Nidra teacher, having completed my training at the Satyananda Yoga Centre, part of the Bihar School of Yoga. My Yin Yoga training was completed with Norman Blair, both accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals.

My mindfulness training comes from The Mindfulness Project, where I completed courses in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindful Self-Compassion, practices that inform my teaching every single day.

I am regularly invited to teach at yoga and wellness festivals, and I work with organisations across the professional services sector on corporate wellbeing and burnout prevention.
